What is food? Do we know it?

We claim that the large number of people are surrendering to the lord of death, just because of hunger...? As per the statistics given out by www.worldhunger.org is 925 million!. Is this because we are not able to produce that much of food? lack of resources??

No...

The truth is we can produce sufficient food to satisfy each and every living creature on this mighty earth! There too much for everyone's need, but not greed.
There are some of the images below which seems that we need to think again in this regard.
A hungry kid....

A machine used to handle waste food...

food wasted in restaurant...

food wasted by (extra)ordinary people like us....

The first and foremost image is the most common scene......which we generally don't notice! There are many kids, young men and women, old people, who are starving and dying, they get food once in a day at the max.

Once, I was complaining against the workers of a hostel, that they will not be working properly, etc... but the truth was that they were not healthy, so they weren't able to do it, the main cause was their salary Rs 93/- per day, which is not at all sufficient for an individual, how is it sufficient for a family? How much do we spend, once if we go to a hotel? some snacks, some starters, a little food ..... at least Rs 150/- ?.
Do we really enjoy that food? is the biggest question. The answer is NO!, the last image is the proof of that. Minimum of 1/4 th food will be remaining in the plates after dinner/lunch....
Upon that, the chefs of the hotel/restaurant need to serve nicely decorated plates, else the food will not go into our stomach! To make that, a lot of food is wasted, the third image is the witness.
With all these are done the the food in garbage yard is handled by machines (image 2).

I have experienced this once!, when a  half a dozen of kids (may be of age 6-10) surrounding me and my relatives one day in a railway station, while we were having lunch, I gave a pie to two kids even than they didn't move from that place, when the food in our hands was given away to them, I enjoyed the happiness that blossomed on their faces.

I now understand what is food, I have taken PLEDGE to not to waste food, if I don't like it? i will not take it. Then there will not be the question of wasting food.
Many times questions arise, the food is prepared for me, I can do what ever I want to do to it.... that food is mine, but if I don't like it, I will give to a beggar but not to waste it, next time reduce the quantity! thats it... National savings......

Strength does not come from physical capacity. It comes from an indomitable will.

These are the words of Mahatma Gandhi, but these are just words in the present scenario....
I don't know what happened, what went wrong, what is wrong, what is going wrong we admire the words, the thoughts, the principles of Mr Gandhi, but we refuse to practice them at all...
We don't have the will to practice them? we don't have the strength to follow Mr Gandhi?
Our thoughts are feeble, our wishes are very weak, we lack in strength and energy....?

None of the above are true...

We Indians are very strong in all the respects but fail to recognize them.

The world will see India as one of the best, civilized, cultured, developed nation very soon.

One's first step in wisdom is to question everything - and one's last is to come to terms with everything.

The Pledge..... in school is for scool childlife only? or for life?

India is my country & all Indians are my brothers and sisters.
I love my country and I am proud of its rich and varied heritage;
I shall always strive to be worthy of it.
I shall give my parents, teachers and all elders respect and treat everyone with courtesy.
To my country and my people, I pledge, my devotion.
In their well-being and prosperity alone, lies my happiness.

How many times a year we took this pledge ?
How many years we took this pledge ?
I remember this from my first standard ....... at least 10 long years.

This is something strange which I have noticed in my 5 years of experience after I left my school.
Many circumstances have forced me to think, think and re-think these statements and every time I got very good meanings of these statements.

But...
The cultivated,
The developed,
The nourished,
The valued,
The respected,
human values are limited to the paper? or only a pledge?

I really don't know...
